Peptitler (Grekçe: πεπτίδια; “ufak tefek sindirilebilirler”) tanımlanmış bir düzende, α-amino asitlerin birbirine rabıtlanmasıyla oluşan kısa polimerlerdir.[1] Bir amino hamız lakırtııntısı ile öbürü arasındaki bağ bir “amit bağ” yahut peptit bağı olarak bilinir.[1]
Tetrapeptit (Oligopeptit)
Proteinler polipeptit molekülleridir (yahut çok skorda polipeptit ast birimi çitndırır). Yapı taşı nüans peptitlerin kısa, polipeptitlerin/proteinlerin ise uzun olmasıdır.[1]
Protein sentezi esnasında her amino hamız, gayrı amino asite daim, kırılmayan bir polimer olan polipeptid zincirleriyle rabıtlanır. Polipeptid strüktürsına peklan amino asitlerin her biri strüktürya peptid rabıtlarıyla rabıtlanır. Peptid bağının oluşumu esnasında amino asitlerden birinin amino grubu ile diğerinin karboksil grubu, aradan bir sutaş çıkması sonucu birleşirler.[1]
Ortalama bir polipeptit zinciri 450 amino asitten oluşur.[1] Bilindik en uzun polipeptit, kestirmece 27,000 amino asitten oluşan, kas dokusunda kâin “titin”dir. Polipeptid zincirine peklan amino asitlere lakırtııntı (residue) adı verilir.[1] Zincirin bir ucundaki lakırtııntı, bağ yapmamış, muaf amino grubu çitndırır ve N ucu olarak adlandırılır. Aynı şekilde zincirin gayrı ucundaki muaf α-karboksil grubu olan lakırtııntıya C ucu adı verilir.
